When 46428 arrived at Bury it was moved to the track adjacent to where 80097 was at Bolton Street Station.
The first job done was to remove all the boiler and flue tubes. The boiler was also made ready for lifting. When 80097 was
moved into the works 46428 was moved into platform 1 at Bury for a number of years. With the opening of the Heywood branch
and the installation of the signalling system at Bury the loco had to find a new home. It now resides in a siding at the rear
of Bury South signal box. It has been painted in a "Thomas "livery of red yellow and white by the railway's Thomas team. This
gives it added protection. Many components have been purchased for the loco and a number of patterns for missing castings
have been made.
