When the chassis was brought in to the works it was an 0-6-0. The pony truck and bogie had been removed and disassembled.
The first major job was to remove the wheels and axleboxes from the frames To do this we constructed two pairs of lifting
frames. These were positioned at the front and rear of the chassis and the chassis was slowly lifted using hydraulic jacks
that were integral with the lifting gear. Once the frames were high enough the wheels were removed together with the axleboxes.
The frames were then lowered onto adjustable supports and levelled using laser beams. The restoration could now begin in earnest.
